I am finally able to release my 31 minute movie for my album "Smoke Through A Keyhole". I also have it released in four parts for those with ADD. I recommend watching this at night when your brain is about to turn to oatmeal. Mmmm...oatmeal brain...good!

Smoke Through A GoPro...
I finished my experimental video spanning the entire length of my album "Smoke Through A Keyhole" a few weeks ago. I put a deadline on it, to submit it into the Telluride Film Festival. I realize this is equal like trying to roll a Yahtzee three times in a row, but being a low odds lover like I am, it sounded like a good thing to do.
Since it is submitted, I cannot release it publicly until they let me know if I will be included or not in this year's festival. Eventually, when it is released, I will also split the movie into to four parts as I do with the album. Attention span these days does not bode well for a 30 minute art piece with a thinly smoked story line.
Since I have finished, I am now turning back to music, and will begin writing my next album. I am just as in the dark as you are as what form it will take, and I look forward to what it will eventually show itself to be. Hopefully not a three-headed Chimera, but I will take that too. It is time again to begin to begin.
Smoke Through A Camera Lens...
So....I am in the middle of filming a piece for the entire record of "Smoke Through A Keyhole". Yep, that's right. Over a 30 minute short film. I have been taking footage since November 2014, and I about 70% done...taking footage that is. I am doing this like I wrote the album. Creating pieces as they flow naturally. Each piece is its own. As the album, almost a collage, threaded by the music. When I have captured enough of the feelings/images, I will bring up the music, and let the music and image decide what will be joined together.
There will be the full length release, and it will be also divided into the four movements of the album, for help out the attention deficit folks, which even those pieces might be too long, but so it is. Art. It takes as long as it takes. Let it soak into you, or just walk on by.
When you ask? I have no idea. I hope by this Summer. Being that this is my first foray into making films, I have had a pretty big learning curve to catch up to. Also, being limited to just a single GoPro camera (On purpose), this limit makes me hard to work hard for the images, but also makes me commit to direct, concise imagery. Which in turn, forces me to be very creative in my process before and after filming the images.
I hope I will be able to offer something to move and inspire. At the very least, something very me. Every image seen through my eyes and imagination, in my world. The three months working on this has affected me greatly. I see the world with a changed eye.
Anyone who has been following my posts and photos have already been getting glimpses of my film, as I can't help myself to give out flash-forwards of things to come.
Here is the first track "So It Was Then" on Smoke Through A Keyhole, which will be released next week on October 7th!
So it was, so it was then
Come what may, I've been happy
So it was, so it was then
Time turns into space
Things of no moment
Sucking the sky
So-wrong-somewhere
You can stop believing but it doesn't go away
The radiant ones never know what's coming
You can be here if you're gonna be there
Things of no moment
Falling away
Falling away
Falling away
Falling away
Distant fingers searching
In the black blanket of Scorpio and
Whirling 'round repleat and gushing
A flooding flash bulb sunrise
Colossal and immortal shine
Envelopes me from a single source and
Hidden in the ceaseless movement
We share our secret sleep and
Diaphanous diamond supreme beings
without morning breath and seeing
Our hands clasp tight to make a fist
Of the impermanence of meaning
The nightingale that sings in the woods
She could, she should, she takes to fly and
I am spitting a rainbow stream to the sinking sky and
Blind me in my ghostly lust of
The flickering nova lighted dust.
So It Was Then...
Deep In The Mystery...
Well, it is that time of year again...A new album release is eminent. "Smoke Through A Keyhole" will be released October 7th. For anyone that wants to pre-order the album, they will get a bonus song, "Deep In The Mystery". These 4 songs on the album are 7-8 minutes long, with 3-4 movements in each of them. Song structure is out the window here, it is really meant to be listened in its entirety (30:31), I know this goes against all reality in the land of attention deficit disorder, but that is point.
Deep In The Mystery
Blind me in my ghostly lust of the
Flickering nova lighted dust
Become my thoughts, become my blood
Into the night, below and above
You can only go to places that you let in
Losing control is how we begin
Finding solace deep in the mystery
Deep in the mystery
I beat you my heart in the silver sea
Filling in the space, by filling the time
Goes beyond our depth and beyond our minds
I twist and turn through the memories
That lie like kisses from the Siren Furies
Is it too late, or is it too soon?
A codex of the dead, of the rune
Intangible fruits, that we descend
Shattering the truths, and waking the dead
Solace in the deep mystery
Deep in the mystery
